UNDERNEATH YOUR SKY

In this county I call home where a man's still free to roam

Beneath an endless sky that goes on for as far as I can see,

If that sky is blue or grey it doesn't matter anyway

Here's where I belong and I was meant to be.

CHORUS.

Underneath your sky there's room for all to grow

and with the changing years I hope it always will be so.

I can wander 'round your city with it's ancient history

And see upon the hill top high your place of sanctuary.

Though your face is ever changing all that matters stays the same

And your winding river flows on endlessly.

CHORUS.

The mighty river Humber flows into the great North Sea

In days gone by the fishing boats would sail out from the quay.

Now the old men on the dockside sit and watch the world go by

Thinking on those days with pride and dignity.

CHORUS.

Out across the open fields the land is changing too

The methods used today are not the ones our fathers knew.

And houses now are growing in the fields once sown with corn

That's the price of progress paid by me and you.

CHORUS.
