GOLDEN DAYS

Endless Summer days of bike rides,

Camping, fishing too.

Everything was always right but,

So much left to do.

My friend John was older than me,

But I was almost ten.

We had no grown-ups worries,

Life was so much simpler then.

Chorus

Those golden days are over now

they're lost in space and time.

But my memories fixed like photographs,

live forever in my mind.

Sunday mornings, service done.

Across the fields we'd roam.

And five 'Weights' last forever

As we'd walk the long way home.

The rides out in the old Ford car,

Day trips to the coast.

Picnic lunches and café teas

Were the things I loved the most.

Chorus.

Building castles in the sand,

A race to get them done.

Then watch the sea reclaim them

With the setting of the Sun.

The sleepy rides back home at night

"nearly there" you'd say.

Cotton wool inside my head.

Another golden day.

Chorus.
