WELCOME
TO MY GALLERY OF COMMERCIAL WORK
|
|
I often get asked to produce
pictorial work for shops, public houses and various businesses.
This involves a slightly different technique, as I work with sign
painter's enamel paints which are far more durable for external
work. Here are a few examples of the varied work I do in this
field. If you need any information regarding this type of work,
please feel free to contact me by telephone, fax or e-mail to
discuss your needs.

The
Castle
This swing sign was commissioned
by the new landlord of The Castle Pub and Restaurant in
Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset. The pub enjoys great sea
views and a good reputation.

The
Fishery Inn
This is a well-known watering Hole
in Hertfordshire. Needless
to say, this Inn is on a good trout - fishing river!

The
Wheatsheaf
The proprietors
of this pub wanted something a little different from the
standard 'wheatsheaf'. This is the idea I came up with to
include their best selling beer 'Tipsy Toad'.

The
Royal Oak
Oak-apple Day falls on 29th May,
the birthday of Charles ll, and commemorates his concealment
with Major Careless in the "Royal Oak" at Boscobel, near
Shifnal, Salop, after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester
on 3rd September 1651.

The
Nag's Head
This is
the sign I painted to grace the exterior of the famous Nag's
Head in Covent Garden, London. Next time you're visiting
London's Theatre Land pop in for a drink. You might even
meet some of the players!

The
Queen's Head
This is taken from another famous
portrait, this time of Queen Elizabeth I, again with artistic
licence being used in the treatment of the colours and emblems
of her costume.

The
Prince of Wales
This sign is based on a very famous
portrait painting of The Prince of Wales painted by Sir
Thomas Lawrence. This is not a copy of the original as,
in order to use this image it is necessary to make subtle
but obvious changes to the colours and emblems of office.

The
Waterloo Hotel
This is another example of the use
of a depiction of an historical event. Here the uniforms
of famous regiments had to have changes made to them so
that no one regiment could be picked out. The colours and
insignia have all been changed.

The
Ploughman's Table
This is a single-sided menu board
about 5 feet in length that is wall-mounted to show the
bill of fare. These are sometimes done on certain plastics
that can be illuminated from behind.

Flintwood
Farm
This is a double sides swing sign,
like the pub signs, but for a farm near Louth in Lincolnshire.
This is a farm park where you can get close up experience
of the animals in their working environment.

Sign-written
Van for Thimbleby Kennels
This job included the lettering
which I do very rarely these days unless it is included
within the pictorial design.

Sign-written
Van for Thimbleby Kennels
The job also included
a full animal portrait as well. These Kennels cater for
all breeds but are particularly concerned with and capable
of catering for the larger breeds of dogs, especially Mastiffs,
hence the depiction of this breed on the vehicle. There
is a profile portrait on each side and a full-face portrait
painted on the bonnet.

this one is in Washington, USA.
