Richard
was born in London in 1951. He grew up and was educated in Surrey.
From an early age it was his deepest wish to be an artist. He
was strongly influenced by the English Pre-Raphaelites and early
Dutch masters.
He
entered Reigate School of Art and Design as a full-time student
in 1974. During his studies there, exploring various styles,
he discovered the Surrealists and, in particular the work of
Salvador Dali. With the marriage of all these diverse influences
he arrived at his own unique style. He gained his Diploma in
Fine Art in 1977 and took up full-time self-employment as an
artist, specialising in portraiture and still-life subjects,
showing at local exhibitions and galleries in Surrey.
Richard
moved to Lincolnshire in 1980. From 1982-1984 he gave private
tuition to two amateur painting groups and started to paint
pet portraits. He moved to Wragby in 1986 where he now works
from his studio at his home, which he shares with his wife Frances,
and Barney the dog. He is a regular exhibitor at open exhibitions
and galleries in Lincolnshire. He gives demonstrations in oil
painting and holds regular one-day workshops for local art groups,
and designs and paints sets for a local amateur dramatic society.
Take a look at Richard's Galleries for his pet
portraits, surreal
and still
life paintings. Many of which are for sale
in his shop.
Richard
has received numerous commissions from major greetings card
companies and his paintings have been reproduced as prints,
greetings cards and calendars. He has now started to produce
his own fine art limited edition prints of some of his work,
(see the CATALOGUE
page on this web site). Richard now attracts considerable interest
in his work from private UK and overseas clients, and his paintings
and pet portraits are in private collections throughout Europe
and the USA.
Music
is another of Richard's great passions, so don't forget to check
out the music section for news and information about dates of
gigs and about the CD's. There are links to other music sites
that you may be interested in and there are now free music samples
to download. The new CD 'Like a Moth to a Flame' is now available

Richard has now lauched his own
independant record label 'Old
Black Dog Records' promoting his own music. Visit
